Over the last 48 hrs I have drummed up interest for our childcare needs. Today I am interviewing not 1, not 2, not 3...but SIX candidates for the position! I have no idea what questions to ask (besides security questions, i.e. driving record) so probably by the 3rd gal, I will have figured it out. lol
Five of the candidates I found on Care.com (recommended by 3 different people!) and the 6th is a T.A. at Nathan's school.
I'm anxious to find someone but I'm not going to rush the process. I know 6 interviews may sound like a lot (and it is) or perhaps rushing, but seriously, I have weeded out approximately 45 initial candidates so these six have moved on to phase 2 in the process. ;-)
Nanny 'A' - Not likely. I think the kids' safety would be spot on, but she said she isn't very flexible with suprises in the schedule. HAHAHAHA...in our house, EVERYDAY is a suprise, so you MUST be flexible! lol Because I do think she would treat the kids as her own (appropriately ;-)), she is not a definite no. Oh, she would have to also get some tougher skin to handle our brood. She said "oh I hope they don't test me". I laughed and said "oh they will...after about a week when they realize you're really not going anywhere". YIKES! lol
ReplyDeleteNanny 'B' - LOVE HER! Only question will be if our booster seats will fit in her car. :/ She is/was extremely friendly, polite, sounds like she will be firm, but loving and patient. She is/was very mature, took a lot of notes and a great listener. Oh my, I hope the car situation won't be the deal breaker!!!

It's near noon and now I have a little break. Next interview is at 1:45. I have high hopes for this one. ;-) I think I may treat myself to the treadmill this afternoon at the Y.
Nanny 'E' - LOVE HER! Super great, a Christian, she has a daughter my age, and has raised 2 sons of her own. I think she would be a perfect balance in our family. The car is not an issue. :-)

Nanny 'F' - I liked her a lot! Not sure her car is big enough, and since she works at the school during the day, she would not be available at the last minute to watch one of the boys during the day in the event they were sick but I would definitely use her for general babysitting.
