Don't Bug Me - Day 5

Update: LAUSD Dr called ME to discuss the District's Lice/Nit Policy. We spoke for over an hour and got some what no where.

Details: What a draining phone call that was! Holy smokes! We were going round and round with our points and never really able to see eye-to-eye on any part of the subject. Towards the end of the conversation, the Dr made the suggestion that we should have her or the LAUSD Head Nurse come to our school and speak to the parents about lice, nits and other communicable infections/infestations. I seriously LOL (!) and said OK (if for nothing else, since all my time had been wasted on a call with her), I'll discuss with Principal and I'm certain she would LOVE to have either of you there (there student attendance rates are fair-poor) and help support the families. Hahahaha...how quickly she started back pedaling! I told her no, she offered and made this suggestion so I will take her up on it and will discuss it with the Principal.

I still plan on going to John Deasy to explain EVERYTHING (isn't he lucky! lol) and ask for his help on this policy change but will not push too hard because when I asked LAUSD Dr about whether or not she would change the policy based on Deasy's request, she said NO. I couldn't believe it! I realized at that moment that the battle I was fighting was/is the "world". I refuse to fight with the Dr or Head Nurse, but pray for them. I don't know what their spiritual needs are/aren't but based on conversations (specific comments that were made) and the way they discussed this topic with me I really felt the Lord's presence and Him telling me to just pray for them.

My focus will continue on keeping MY children safe and healthy. How any school district decides to handle health and safety, I have to prioritize and listen to my gut as each individual case gets brought to light. I will continue to ask for random hair checks in Nathan's class in particular and take each day at a time. I do feel the Lord working on my heart, my mind and I feel like this time in a public classroom is a transitional period for something so much greater for our children's education.
